๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Safety Tips for Sellers

Protect yourself when selling on ChandanagarHUB. Follow these tips to sell safely and avoid fraud.

10 Tips to Sell Safely

1

Meet in a Safe Public Place

Choose a well-lit public location for handovers โ€” a busy market area, petrol station or main road. Avoid letting strangers come to your home.

2

Accept Payment Only After Handing Over

Confirm payment has been received in your bank/UPI before giving the item. Do not hand over goods on the promise of payment.

3

Verify UPI Payment Before Handing Over

Always check your bank app or UPI app to confirm the amount has actually arrived. Don't trust screenshots of payment โ€” they can be fake.

4

Be Honest in Your Listing

Accurately describe your item's condition, age and any defects. Honest listings get more genuine buyers and fewer disputes.

5

Communicate Through the Platform

Use ChandanagarHUB's built-in messaging so there's a record of all communication with buyers.

6

Don't Share Personal Details Unnecessarily

Share only your phone number when needed. Never share your Aadhaar, bank account number or UPI PIN with a buyer.

7

Watch for Overpayment Scams

Be wary of buyers who want to pay more than your asking price and ask for the difference to be returned โ€” this is a common fraud.

8

Don't Ship Items to Strangers

Avoid sending items by courier to unknown buyers. Stick to in-person handovers within Chandanagar.

9

Take Good Photos Before Selling

Photograph your item clearly before the sale to have evidence of its condition. This protects you from false claims.

10

Report Suspicious Buyers

If a buyer is pressuring you, making unusual requests or seems fraudulent, report them to us immediately.

Common Scams Targeting Sellers

โš ๏ธ Watch out for these buyer tricks:

  • Fake UPI screenshots โ€” Buyer sends a screenshot showing payment but no money arrives. Always verify in your bank app.
  • Overpayment scam โ€” Buyer pays extra and asks you to refund the difference via UPI.
  • Fake calls from "bank staff" โ€” Someone calls asking for your OTP to "process payment". Never share OTPs.
  • "I'll pick it up" but never shows โ€” Time wasters. Get a confirmed meeting time before holding the item.
  • Switching items during inspection โ€” Buyer distracts you and switches your item with a damaged one. Stay alert.
